To clattery:
Just a suggestion, rather than using a diaper at night, you should try the goodnights. They look like an underwear and they are super absorbant. I agree with what yousaid about not switching back and forth with diapers and training pants. I have my two and half in training pants all day and at night i put a goodnight. They work great.

Another idea is to switch to cloth diapers and cloth training pants, use thick cloth diapers at night and other times, only cloth training pants with wateproof cover (Kooshies make some wonderfull ones) if you are to get other place than home, buy Pampers Feel'N'learn, they work like the cloth training pants, they let the child know when he is wet.

Just put him in the pull ups when you are not at home. If he still doesn't like that then get some soft cloth training pants and get the plastic covers so he doesn't leak on his clothes while you are out.
I read on another site that once you make the transition to training pants don't put diapers on your child. It will just confuse them and if they like the diapers they won't ever want to potty train.
My son is 25 months and we just use a diaper at nite because they are more absorbant.
Good luck!
