J98 the idea is to stop messes. He obviously isn't ready to be potty trained, so why would you put underwear on a baby?

Just so you know, I'm a mom to 3 yr old all boy quadruplets. I had this problem when they were little and cleaning up the messes became overwelming. I ended up using duct tape. I'd wrap it completely around the diaper twice with the ends towards the back. Even if my little houdinis figured out they were wearing tape, it was too hard to pull the tape apart or get the diaper off.
There's nothing evil about it. You're just making your life easier. Don't feel guilty about it at all.

I don't agree.I've cleaned up plenty of messes in a crib and bed .just because tape is not something I would use, does not mean that I have never cleaned up messes before.

Tape, clear mailing tape could be usefull in this case, he's not ready for the potty and just think its funny to take them off so there's nothing else to do, mailing tape over the tabs and stopping in the back of the diaper (start and stop there only 1 turn should be enough but make sure the tape doesn't touch his skin because that would hurt a lot) A little tricky to change this type of taped on diaper use scissors (with lot of precautions you don't want to hurt him after all) also another trick that could fool him is Onesies and footed sleepers, they cover the diaper and keep busy hands away of them too (be carefull some kids can be very creative in finding a way to take their clothes off)

Another trick maybe a pair of thick mittens that he can't take off, this would keep him unable to take his diaper off.

I know the tape idea has been discussed on this board and some people think its crazy, but I think they never cleaned up a mess in a crib or in a toddler room to say that. Tape is a good way to avoid this if you are carefull to secure it a little tight but not too much (or else they will find a way of sliding the diaper down)
