Potty Fear

Sep 10, 2009 1:29 PM
My daughter is 27 months old and totally READY to be potty trained. She hates pee and poo in her diaper and practically changes her own diaper.

She loved sitting on the potty, she practiced regularly. Last Saturday we had a Potty Party and said NO MORE DIAPERS! She was thrilled. She loved her new big girl underwear.

And then pee actually came out into the potty during one of her potty times. Now she is terrified of the potty and will hold her pee for as long as possible. She knows not to pee in her pants, but when she really has to go, we have to hold her on the potty and she screams. I'm wondering how to get over this fear.

She is happy once the pee comes out. She is excited about the experience actually. Loves the wiping, dumping the pee from the little potty to the big potty. She says she's proud of herself. Walks around saying "I went pee pee in my potty!" Its just the feeling that pee is coming that is very scary to her. And she doesn't want anything to do with the potty or big toilet (I've tried both).

I not sure if going backwards to diapers is the best either.

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
