thanks. i am going to try those things. that sounds like something he may be more comfortable with. that seems like a good start. we really had no idea how to get going, but i think that will help us in the right direction.

Go for it!!

Start off by putting him on the potty with a diaper on consistantly at the same times every day... when he wakes up, after nap, after meals... Be consistent so it is a part of his daily routine. Then introduce pull ups to him.. "BIG BOY PANTS" and if he is still uncomfortable sitting bare bottom on the potty sit him with the pull ups on. Gradually keep trying to get him to sit bare bottom. The consistency with timing is the key.... And let him walk around the house naked as much as you can too.... it helps him to realize how things work down there.

hi everyone.
my son is 20 months old and my husband and i think our son is ready to start training, but we aren't sure exactly how to get started, or even what to do. we bought a potty chair, but he just wants to take it apart. he stays dry most of the day, and can do signlanguage when he is in the bathroom, for the potty. he likes being in the bathroom with my husband, but he cryes like crazy if we put him on his potty without a diaper. i could use any help. does he sound like he is ready or should we wait.
