How do I get my 3 1/2 year old to understand when he has to go potty. We have been trying for a year and he went several times for in-laws and at Sunday school months ago if not a year ago, but only once for us and he cried while going. He is starting preschool in the fall and has to be potty trained. He understands this and really wants to go to school. He has been sitting on the potty several times a day and always goes after I put his diaper back on. His Urologist (he had to have his circ. re-done) said the signal to go just wasn't going to his brain yet and to just put him on the potty every 2 hrs. We've tried pull-ups and cloth training pants to no avail. I'm afraid just underwear will be a mess. Any advice is appreciated!
