I bought my son his first potty when he was 14 months old. I would let him sit on it, and the first time he went on he pooped, he was so happy. But after that, he wouldnt go on his potty for a good year. My son went back a step quite a few times, and now at 2 1/2 hes completely trained. It did take some time and patience but alot of my friends kids started training early too. and they all went back instead of progressing. I dont think your pushing to early. But it also depends on the child. Good luck

Okay, I need some help. I have a 17 month old that will be 18 months in a week. about 4 days ago I decided to buy her a potty just to see what would happen. She peed in it 7 times the first day. The next day she woke up and peed and then I had to take her to my sisters to be babysat and she didn't pee at all in the potty with her. I came home and we went shopping and I got her to pee at the store without her chair then I was out at my mom's and she peed in her potty after three times of putting her on the potty. every time she has peed in the potty it is only after about 20-30 seconds of sitting on it. my family thinks I am trying to push her to early.... but my sisters kid who is almost 3 hasn't even peed in the potty once. So I think I am on to something. but the last couple of days she hasn't been as willing to sit on the potty and I haven't been home to be able to encourage her while I am at work so the only times she has peed is in the middle of the night when she wakes up I take her to the potty and when she wakes up for the morning or from naps she will pee with me. Should I continue trying or do you think I am pushing to much?
