I have an almost 18 mos old son and he is also showing some interest in the potty. He's been watching his use the potty and she's almost 3. He's at the begining part of the stage to where he's telling us that he's gone poo in his pants. He'll even try to go the bathroom after he's done it, but whenever I would put him on the potty he would only sit there for about a minute and then starts whining to get down. I've only had him on the potty maybe about 2 or 3 times, but he seems to start to get comfortable with it now but he hasn't done anyting yet. Me and my husband are waiting for that moment to happen.
So to me, I think that it's some kind of progress. SIince that your child is interested, let them watch you, daddy, or their little friends who are using the potty. And even get your child to sit on the potty to get more comfortable and something may happen. I know how frustuating it can be. And I also don't think that it's too early cause not every child is the same and from what I hear that girls intend to be easier than boys. Because I trained my daughter for over a year has only been doing it since she was about 17 mos. I've even experienced dome ups and downs and feeling ready to be done for her to be in Big Girl panties already! So keep a positive attitude and she'll make big progress.

I don't think it's too early, but then again, that's when I first started introducing the potty to my daughter. She's now almost 21 months and knows about the potty and likes to sit on, but she only goes every once in awhile.

I find it difficult to "time" when she needs to go on the potty. Like, how long after she's had a drink or food, you know? I just keep asking her, do you want to sit on the potty and if she says yes, I let her sit on it. If she says no, I don't push it. She'll learn over time, but getting her introduced this early, I personally don't think that's a problem - hey, the earlier she's out of diapers, the better, don't you think?

Good luck!!

My 16 month old daughter is showing interest on going on the potty she has gone x 4 now and the last time told me that she had to go, and did pee on potty. Is it too early to start and what can I do to be more consistent - i am a full time working mom!
