I am a first time mom so I don't have a lot of experience in this department, but I think if your son seems ready to potty train go for it!
My son has been going pee pee in his potty since just before he turned 15 months and on average goes 2 times a day. No luck on poops yet though. I am just making sure I don't pressure him because I don't want him to regress like you hear a lot of toddlers do when they first start out.

My advise to you is to put him on the potty as soon as he wakes up in the morning and after a nap, every time you or his brother goes and approximately 10 minutes after meals. Eventually when he goes make a really big deal out of it and even give him a sticker, that is what I did. Hopefully he will catch on quickly and want to please you again next time you put him on the potty. Good luck!

1 year old that SEEMS ready

I am a mom of two. My 4 year old didnt start training till 3 because I was a young new single mom without a clue. Now my 15 month old son is showing signs of readiness:
As soon as he soils himself he takes off his diaper
He insists on coming to the restroom with me and his bro.
And he seems comfortable sitting on his potty.
He also plays with his pull-up when hes wetting

My question is; Is it too soon? He seems ready but wont actually use the toilet. I could use some advise
