Unfortunately the bad experience will stay with him a while. I used to try to push my son into at least sitting on the potty and of course he would push back. I stopped pushing and about 4 days later he decided to start doing it on his own. I put some books in the bathroom for him to look at and it seems to be doing the trick. I still remind him to go potty but I don't force the issue. He will either go in on his own or I will walk him in and ask if he needs help. His usual answer now is no. I have come to the conclusion that so many parents have the same problem even though we feel that we are alone. This is not a new problem and kids will always develop on thier own. They just need lots of support, love, and guidence. Not to mention consistency. Just keep trying and it will happen.

My daughter had a problem with constipation when she was smaller due to lactose sensitive as we later found out and would refuse to go poop in the toilet we let her do poopy in the diaper a few times and then after the 2nd or 3rd time that she went poop on the diaper i waited for the next time and took her to the toilet I set her down and told her she would get 2 pieces of candy when she was done that seem to work and when i took her to day care I told her to go to one of the ladies(Martha) when she needed to go. I think one of the problems in day care is they don't know who to ask and rather hold it in that seem to work.
Now if i can get her to pee in the toilet i'll be done.

Good Luck,

Determined Mom.

Won't go poopy on the potty!

My son will go pee pee on the potty, but had a bad experience when he tried to go poopy. He was constipated (from holding it in at daycare), and when he went to go poopy on the potty, he cried and said it hurt. From that point forward, he refused to go poopy on the potty. To make matters worse, when he asks for a diaper or pull up to go poopy, when we try to change him, he gets really upset and is very hard to calm down. I think he is embarrassed and hates to be changed. Help! I don't know how to get him past this!
