1. His bladder may be getting bigger and he's not recognizing that he is so full until it's too late. If this is still a problem, try getting him to the bathroom well before he's about to overflow.

2. It's nearly impossible to night train a heavy sleeper. This should get better with time; about 15% of 5 year olds wet the bed at night but only 3% of 12 year olds. If it's really a problem for the family, try waking him up after he's been asleep for a couple hours and having him go to the bathroom. Otherwise, keep using the diapers/pull-ups until he outgrows this.

Yet more potty training issues

My son turned 4 years old in May. He has been day toilet trained since January when he was 3 1/2 years old. However, we have recently been experiencing a few issues:

1. Lately he's been wetting his pants. Sometimes he just can't make it to the bathroom in time, other times he makes it to the bathroom but can't unzip his pants in time. Why after so many months of being day toilet trained does he suddenly start wetting again (4-5x. per week)

2. How do you night train? Sometimes he wakes up dry, sometimes not. I actually ran out of diapers a few nights ago and so he's been wearing regular underwear to bed. 2 nights wet, 1 night dry. Sometimes he'll wake up and ask to use the bathroom, other times he'll wet unconsciously because he is a heavy sleeper. Even though most of the time he wakes up with a wet diaper and dry pants and sheets, this is the exact reason why he still wears diapers at night. Any suggestions.

Oh yeah... and is it easier to train the second child than the first.

Thanks
