I am having the same struggle with my 3-1/2 YO son. He has only gone poop once. He was sitting on the potty, and I put two fingers on his lower abdomen. I applied a tiny amount of pressure, and told him to push against my fingers. He did it! But, it hasn't worked again since then. Maybe it will work for you.

This happened with my second child. After a week of wearing underwear and going pee on the potty she was afraid to poop in the potty. We were quite concerned, and the doctor said that she could do serious damage, and said that this is a sure fire method. We gave her a small (3 fl. ounce) dose of milk of Magnesia in the morning, and put her in a diaper. (Milk of Magnesia makes bowels very runny). After 1 day (and several messy diapers) the doctor said her bowels would become solid again, and we should keep her in a diaper. He said that we should feed her a couple of granola bars throughout the day, because they are high in dietary fiber. He said that as soon as she has to go, she will either say something or start going in her diaper. If we cought her going in her diaper or if she told us she had to go, we would take her to the toilet. He told us to repeat the last steps (from the granola bars) until she was comfortable with pooping on the potty herself. To keep consistent, he said that using pull ups would be good, except for the day when you use the milk of magnesia. Do not mix it with anything, and do not let him drink or eat anything (a dixie cup of water is an exception) an hour before of after taking it.

my son is potty trained in the potty with underware but he won't go poopy what can i do to help him? I have tried everything to get him to train please help
