Yup, not wiping can cause infections because the bateria just sits, grows, and can reenter the body. Girls can easily get yeast and urinary-tract infections from wiping from back to front, or from not wiping at all.

To get her to wipe you may want to go shopping and pick up a roll of "special" toilet paper. Then explain that it is the special toilet paper that princesses' use, or whatever your child idolizes. You could also make up a story about how the toilet paper is used to catch the little pee that didn't fall and to take it to the rest of the pee in the potty so that it's not lonely or lost. It's the weird logic that works with my kids. Good luck with yours!

4 1/2 year old won't go at grandma's and won't wipe

My 4 1/2 year old daughter has been very difficult to potty train. Long after she was completely capable of going, she still just didn't want to. She finally quit having accidents at home when I started babysitting a younger cousin who was mostly potty-trained. Now she has had absolutely no accidents for several months at home, in the car, in stores - everywhere except Grandma's house. She consistently has at least two every time we're there! Also, she refuses to wipe - ever. I don't fight her about it, so I'm not sure why she won't wipe. But it's plenty frustrating to find that little bit of poop in her underwear, and I'm concerned that she might get sore or even get an infection from the dirty underwear. Can anyone help?
