I can imagine how frustrating this must be for you.

It sounds like your daughter is very much in control here. And she should be: It's her body. You can't make her potty train.

If she can hold it in all day like that, and she wants to wear big girl underpants, it's time to let her do that. She may have an accident or two; setbacks are normal. Don't punish her for them. Just clean it up and move on.

I'd hold off on the stickers and other rewards. For her the reward seems to be the big girl underpants. Let her have them, and give her the power to take over her own pottying. It sounds like it's time.

trouble potty training stubborn daughter

We have been working on potty training my 3 year old daughter now for about 5 months. When we first started she was doing great we gave her lots of rewards, candy, stickers, and praising you name it we did it. Well she did good for about a month and a half and started a new preschool then regressed. We put her back in diapers because she was asking for them. We backed off for 3 months or so and now we are trying again. We talked it up a lot before we started and when we started she was so excited and wanted nothing to do with diaper or pull-ups, even at night. Well, now here we are a month after starting and all the cool prizes and stickers are worn out. She stilll doesn't want anything to do with do with diapers or pulll-ups only wants her big girl panties and shes showing signs of regression again. She always says no when you ask her if she has to go and obviously getting frustrated, as well as i. So i tried to not ask her or mention anything about going potty, mind you she still won't wear pull-ups. Well, she held it and wouldn't go all day long. so not only will she not wear pull-ups anymore, she doesn't want to go potty anymore and i know its a control thing She goes to preschool 3 days a week for 2 hours and she won't go there either, even if she sees the other kids going. I am getting frustrated now and don't want to push her but how lon can she hold it for? I need help!!!!!!
