Hi Marissa.

It's best not to punish toddlers when they have accidents, because it can cause bigger problems. For instance, some kids hold in their poop and then get constipated.

Instead, you need to find a new incentive to get him to put that poop in the toilet. Some new stickers, perhaps, just for pooping.

Also, make it easy for him to get to the toilet on his own. Is he in a bed yet? If not, it might be time to switch him to a bed. If you worry that he'll wander around the house if he's not contained in his room, why not get him a Poop Bell -- something to ring when he's got to go poop.

Good luck!

poopy problems

Oct 22, 2009 4:32 AM
My 21/2 pees and poops during the day with my reminders. In the morning get up ten minutes before he usually wakes and take him to the potty and he poops in the toilet. My problem is if he wakes earlier than usual he always poops in his pull up. Then when I ask him if he pooped his pants, he says "No." How do I get him to use the potty and not his pants if he wakes early? Or come get me to use the toilet. During the day, I do remind him to go potty. Am I expecting too much in the morning? I reward him when I take him to the potty and he poops in the morning, should I take something away or "punish" him in some way for pooping his pants. I just don't get how he's doing so great during the day and in the morning it's such a struggle. PLEASE HELP!! This is disgusting
