I'm so sorry this is happening. What concerns me here is that she says it will hurt, which I suspect is a function of constipation.

The first thing I'd do is take her to the pediatrician to check her for her constipation. In addition to increasing fiber and fluids, he/she might have other options for relieving her constipation while also checking her for any more serious side effects of holding it in.

Once you clear up her constipation, you might want to try getting her to sit on the potty in her Pull-Up at first. Once she's successful at that, you might coax her to try without her Pull-Up, using a sensible reward as an incentive.

But first, treat the constipation.

Best

3 and wont poop on the potty

Jun 27, 2009 4:35 PM
My daughter turned 3 in April. She has been peeing on the potty for about 9mo now, but absolutely REFUSES to poop on the potty.
I have just about had enough and I don't know what else to try.

We have tried, sticking the little potty in the living room so she can relax and watch tv. I've tried reading to her, giving her treats, everything.

She tells me that it will hurt. When she goes to her dads, he refuses to give her a pull up to poop, so she always comes home constipated.

I NEED HELP!!!!
