When do u put them in underwear?

Hi, I'm not sure how old your child is or how ready he is for "THE POTTY" but what I did was... I put my son in pull ups for a while (maybe a week or two) and put him on the potty every half hour or when he drank something. So he got used to the idea on what to do and why he was sitting there. Then after that week or two I just put him in underwear. And continued to potty him every half hour or so like I did before. He had a few accidents, but I just cleaned it up. Now he only wears pull-ups at night. I believe putting him in underwear did help because it let him feel what it was like to be wet. BUT ALSO... I believe a child has to be ready too!!!!!

Someone told me to try putting underwear underneath the pullup so they would seriously really feel how wet they got. Even the cool alerts aren't that uncomfortable. Well, it didn't work with my daughter, but it was worth a try since it worked with someone elses. Having a pullup over the underwear saves your carpet from getting stained and helps them feel not too strange not having the pullup or diaper.

At what point do I switch from pull ups to underwear? My son has yet to tell me he needs to go potty. He will go on potty by himself but it's after he's already went in his pull up? He will stay dry all day if I remind him several times during the day to go potty. He just hasn't figured out the "urge" thing yet. I was thinking maybe putting him in underwear would possibly help him along. thoughts?
