Re: Pees in Potty but will not Poop

I have a 3 year old son that will pee in the potty with no problem and refuses to poop in the poty. We have tried sitting him on the toilet ever hour , 1 1/2 hours to 2 hours and reading, playing games and even singing songs. After that didn't work we tried getting a "goodie" bag and told him that he can pick a toy from the "goodie" bag if he goed poop in the potty. He says that he doesnt want the pull ups anymore but so far putting him in undies has not worked either (no matter what kind we got.

Nothing working so far and we are going to leaving on vacation at the end of July on a 16 hour flight. I would love to have him trained by then.

Any Ideas ???

I would say to stop using pull ups during the day. Pull ups are good for starting out and night time but they still absorb a lot of the uncomfortable feeling of wet or dirty undies.

Have him pick out his favorite character undies and buy the plastic diaper covers that they use for cloth diapers (you can get them at walmart for $5 in the baby section. Just get a size smaller because they are made bigger because they are intended to be used with cloth diapers). He will probably poop and pee in them a few times but keep using them and don't go back to pull ups. I bet after a day or so he will decide he'd rather go on the potty...

Another thing that worked for my son is that we bought Elmo undies cause that is his favorite character and I told him "Elmo doesn't like it when you go pee or poop on him" and since then he wanted to go on the potty instead.

Pees in Potty but will not Poop

I have a three year old son whom we have been potty training for over a year. He will pee on the potty fine, but we cannot get him to poop on the potty. We have tried rewards, tracking the time when he poops on paper, reading time, etc. I have ran out of ideas and I do not know what to do. It seems that it does not bother him to have a wet pull-up or a poopy pull-up. He does not seem to care at all. If there is any advice anyone could give me, I would really appreciate it.
